Java Developer

Role summary

Responsibilities

• Develop software using Java 25 as the primary language.
• Meet functional and non-functional requirements while maintaining extensibility and reliability.
• Improve the development and release environment, tooling, and processes.
• Work with traders and production support, providing Level 3 support as required.
• Participate in regular team meetings and Agile ceremonies.
• Coordinate with business and functional analysts, product owners, IT partners, and regional development teams.
• Balance project delivery with business-as-usual and support tasks.

Required qualifications and experience

• Degree in Computer Science or a similar engineering discipline.
• At least five years of relevant experience.
• Strong fundamentals in concurrency, algorithms, and data structures.
• Extensive experience with distributed systems and multithreaded, asynchronous applications.
• Ability to deliver software using Scrum or Agile methodology.
• Strong Java skills, including streams, lambdas, and advanced concurrency APIs.
• Experience with Spring Boot, PostgreSQL, OpenShift, JVM profiling and tuning, and debugging.
• Extensive test-driven development experience and knowledge of CI/CD on large complex systems.

Additional desirable experience

• JavaScript or TypeScript and ReactJS experience is a plus.
• Pricing or risk experience in investment banking, including risk sensitivities and front-to-back processes, is desirable.
• Algorithmic trading, low-latency or lock-free programming, and microsecond-sensitive workloads are desirable.
• Experience with dynamic scalability, EKS or Nomad, Docker, gRPC, cloud services, Kafka or other message buses, and workflow or state management is desirable.
