Overview

Responsibilities

• Oversee the safe and efficient operation of offshore Jacking Systems and ensure compliance with all regulatory and industry standards.
• Maintain a thorough understanding of all types of electric and hydraulic rack and pinion jacking systems, including shock pads, wear guides, jacking frames, gearboxes, climbing pinions, racks, and greasing systems.
• Monitor and manage lubrication systems for enclosed gearing and climbing pinions, including oil sampling programs.
• Inspect and report on the condition of complete Jacking Systems, evaluate degradation of components, and recommend repairs as required.
• Ensure designated ZMI-owned and managed MOU Jacking Systems are maintained according to company standards, manufacturer recommendations, and planned maintenance requirements.
• Ensure periodic oil sampling is carried out on schedule.
• Report outstanding maintenance requirements related to Jacking Systems to the Crane & Jacking Operation Department Head.
• Conduct periodic inspections of designated MOUs to verify completion of planned maintenance activities.
• Visit barges outside the UAE, including new builds during construction, commissioning, and sea trial stages.
• Ensure compliance with applicable IMO MOU Codes, operational requirements, and Class Rules for Classification and Construction Industrial Services.
• Provide shore-based support and technical response for Jacking Systems when required.
• Coordinate with the Jacking System Senior Electronic Engineer and Mechanical Jacking Superintendent on planned maintenance, dry docking activities, and spare parts availability.
• Support offshore units through remote and on-site technical assistance as required.
• Monitor and ensure periodic inspections of KSA jack-up barges in accordance with ARAMCO JSHI schedules.
• Ensure manufacturer maintenance requirements are effectively incorporated into the Planned Maintenance System (PMS) with emphasis on electric and hydraulic Jacking Systems.
• Ensure engineering readiness and operational reliability of all company-owned and managed MOU Jacking Systems.
• Plan and oversee dry dock activities related to Jacking Systems, ensuring compliance with class, company, and manufacturer requirements, while managing timelines, budgets, and spare parts procurement.
• Prepare dry dock specifications and subcontractor repair scopes related to Jacking Systems where applicable.
• Maintain accurate engineering records, logbooks, PMS records, technical reports, certifications, and compliance documentation.
• Promote continuous improvement in engineering practices, technical competency, and maintenance standards related to Jacking Systems.
• Monitor and analyze Jacking System performance data to identify trends and improve reliability and operational efficiency.
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge through training, seminars, publications, and industry networking.
• Provide assurance on the safety and operational performance of Jacking Systems across company assets.
• Conduct regular inspections of Jacking Systems and associated components.
• Verify system certifications and documentation.
• Review and generate short-term and long-term planned maintenance activities in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and regulatory requirements.
• Attend vessels at short notice to troubleshoot Jacking System issues.
• Manage on-site system upgrades and repairs during dry dockings and repair periods.
• Support offshore crews in maintaining Jacking Systems in full working order and operational readiness.
• Assist with incident investigations as required by the HSE Department.
• Train and assess offshore Jacking Operators.
• Conduct annual reviews of planned maintenance routines within the PMS to ensure accuracy and effectiveness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or electrical engineering.
• Minimum 15 years of experience as a Senior Engineer specializing in hydraulic and electrical Jacking Systems.
• Extensive experience with offshore Jacking Systems, including electric and hydraulic rack and pinion systems.
• Strong knowledge of lubrication systems, oil sampling programs, and Jacking System component maintenance.
• Experience with Planned Maintenance Systems (PMS), dry docking activities, inspections, and offshore maintenance operations.
• Familiarity with IMO MOU Codes, Class Rules, and offshore industry standards.
• Ability to provide offshore and shore-based technical support, including emergency troubleshooting.
• Experience in maintenance planning, spare parts management, and contractor coordination.
• Strong leadership, training, and team management capabilities.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills.
