As a Crane Lifting Supervisor at ZMI, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient planning, coordination, and execution of lifting operations involving cranes and other lifting equipment across company projects and worksites.
The role is critical in maintaining operational efficiency, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, preventing incidents, and supporting the successful delivery of lifting activities through effective supervision, risk management, and coordination of lifting teams.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review lifting plans in accordance with project requirements and applicable regulations.
- Assess load weights, lifting points, and ground conditions to determine appropriate lifting methods and equipment.
- Ensure all lifting operations comply with health, safety, environmental, and company standards.
- Conduct risk assessments and pre-lift safety briefings prior to lifting activities.
- Supervise crane operators, riggers, and signallers during lifting operations.
- Maintain clear communication and coordination among all personnel involved in lifting activities.
- Inspect and verify that all lifting equipment is certified, properly maintained, and safe for use.
- Ensure all required permits, approvals, and documentation are obtained before lifting operations commence.
- Maintain accurate records of lifting plans, risk assessments, equipment inspections, and personnel certifications.
- Verify that all personnel involved in lifting activities are adequately trained, competent, and certified.
- Develop, implement, and communicate emergency response procedures related to lifting operations.
- Report incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions while supporting corrective and preventive actions.
- Participate in safety audits and recommend improvements to lifting procedures and practices.
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure adherence to lifting operation best practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in crane lifting supervision, rigging coordination, or a similar role.
- Proven experience coordinating crane operations within marine, heavy equipment, offshore, or industrial environments.
- Strong knowledge of crane types, lifting principles, rigging techniques, and applicable safety regulations.
- Familiarity with crane scheduling software and related planning tools.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy, compliance, and safety.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and scheduling software applications.
- Ability to communicate technical and operational information clearly and effectively.
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to perform duties independently with minimal supervision.
