IT Operations Engineer

Role purpose

Experience and qualifications

• 5–10+ years in banking IT operations or production support.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience on at least one core banking go-live, migration, or large platform transformation.
• Experience operating 24x7 mission-critical environments with strict availability and regulatory obligations.
• Experience working with vendors and managed service providers under defined SLAs.

Service operations and monitoring

• Monitor health, capacity, and performance of core banking, integration, API gateway, Kafka, and channel workloads.
• Respond to alerts and incidents, diagnose issues at first and second line, and escalate within SLAs.
• Lead or support major incident bridges, maintain timelines and communications, and contribute to post-incident reviews and problem records.
• Track and report availability, SLA, and SLO performance for critical banking services.

Batch and scheduling

• Execute, monitor, and control end-of-day, end-of-month, and end-of-year processing for core banking and dependent applications.
• Manage job schedules, dependencies, calendars, reruns, and recovery procedures in Control-M or equivalent.
• Coordinate batch windows with payments, cards, treasury, and regulatory reporting teams to protect cut-off times.

Technical skills

• Linux/Unix and Windows Server administration, with shell or PowerShell scripting.
• Batch scheduling with Control-M, Autosys, or equivalent.
• ITSM tooling such as ServiceNow or BMC Remedy for incident, problem, change, and CMDB processes.
• Observability with Dynatrace, Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus, ELK, or equivalent.
• Exposure to Kubernetes/OpenShift, Azure, API gateways, and Kafka operations.
• Working knowledge of Oracle databases and core banking batch architecture; FLEXCUBE is preferred.

Preferred certifications

• ITIL 4 Foundation or higher is preferred.
• Red Hat RHCSA or Microsoft Azure Administrator certification is preferred.
• Control-M or ServiceNow administration certification is preferred.
