IT Network Engineer

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Design and implement LAN, WAN, and MPLS connectivity systems and procedures aligned with business needs.
• Monitor and support network infrastructure, network operating systems, and internet services.
• Design secure internet connectivity that protects internal systems from unauthorized access.
• Assess and specify new or upgraded network systems, including hardware, operating systems, and software.
• Maintain network operations, administration, safety, and security policies, procedures, and standards.
• Maintain network documentation and review vendor submissions for completeness and accuracy.
• Analyze logs, troubleshoot network problems, and monitor hardware and network performance.
• Set domain access and operational procedures and monitor administrator activities.
• Identify network improvements and upgrades; stay current with technology and industry practices.
• Support operations in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Develop a controls compliance program with IT leadership and project stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Engineering or equivalent.
• Network Engineer-related professional courses such as Cisco, HP, or Juniper.
• Microsoft server administration experience with Windows Server 2008/2012, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, DFS, and PowerShell scripting.
• Required credential: Microsoft MCITP, MCSE, Cisco, or VMware; alternatives are listed.
• Seven years of experience with networks, email, and infrastructure.
• Strong written and verbal English communication, analytical skills, and computer skills.
• Ability to manage contract resources and stakeholder relationships and adapt to time pressures.
• Familiarity with ITIL and experience with risk assessment and mitigation concepts.
• Preferred: network management tools and certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, MCSE, or MCSA Messaging.
• Preferred: Microsoft/Cisco/HP server and storage experience; working knowledge of commercial and charter scenarios and controls concepts.
