Development programme

The Intelligence and Data Analyst Development Programme is a five-and-a-half-year structured pathway to build capability for work as a fully trained Intelligence and Data Analyst.

Participants work with colleagues across MI5, partner agencies, and UK allies to turn complex and incomplete information into insight for investigative decisions.

The programme includes structured training, guided practice, and varied postings; postings are assigned according to business need and may vary.

Location and working arrangements

  • The programme is based across two locations in Central and West London.
  • The description states that remote, hybrid, and home working are not possible.
  • Most of the programme offers flexitime and compressed hours subject to business need; initial training follows fixed full-time hours, Monday to Friday, at 36 hours per week.

Training and postings

  • Begin with four months of intensive, full-time, office-based analytical training, including classroom learning, practical exercises, and collaborative work.
  • Complete a first analysis delivery posting lasting two to two-and-a-half years, refining investigative requirements and producing intelligence products from complex datasets.
  • Complete one or two further postings in investigation-focused analysis teams or non-delivery analysis areas, such as training or tradecraft development.
  • Develop technical expertise and analytical capability through the pathway.

Programme commitment

  • The pathway lasts five and a half years.
  • Postings are assigned rather than chosen, and participants cannot transfer between the different development programme pathways once recruited.
  • Annual leave cannot be taken during the initial four-month training period.

Salary

  • The description lists salary as £40,428, rising to £43,705 after one year; no pay cadence is specified in the supplied text.
