Hydrotest Foreman

Role overview

Planning and preparation

• Review hydrotest packages, P&IDs, isometrics, line lists, and pressure test diagrams; identify test limits, isolation needs, and test sections.
• Ensure equipment availability and readiness for flushing, cleaning, drying, and reinstatement.
• Support Hydrotest Engineers in preparing daily and weekly hydrotest plans.

Hydrotest execution

• Lead preparation, pressurization, testing, draining, depressurization, and restoration activities.
• Supervise test equipment installation and system isolation; monitor pressure stability, leak detection, and system integrity.
• Follow approved hydrotest procedures and project specifications.

Cleaning and safety

• Supervise flushing, air blowing, and cleaning; monitor cleanliness and coordinate specialist cleaning subcontractors where required.
• Implement safety procedures, risk assessments, permits, exclusion zones, barricades, warning signs, toolbox talks, and PPE compliance.

Quality and handover

• Inspect test readiness, verify equipment calibration, coordinate QA/QC inspections and witnessing, and maintain records, pressure charts, logs, punch lists, and reports.
• Coordinate punch-item closure and rectification; lead reinstatement and verify readiness for commissioning and handover.

Coordination and leadership

• Coordinate with Hydrotest Engineers, Mechanical/Piping teams, QA/QC, HSE, vendors, and commissioning personnel; report progress and constraints.
• Lead fitters, riggers, helpers, and pump operators; monitor productivity, competency, attendance, and safety.

Experience and qualifications

• Minimum 8–10 years of piping hydrotest experience in Oil & Gas, petrochemical, or EPC projects.
• Hands-on experience with pumps, manifolds, hoses, pressure testing equipment, and calibrated gauges; proven hydrotest crew supervision.
• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.

Technical skills

• Knowledge of hydrotesting and leak testing procedures, high-pressure safety requirements, and technical documentation.
• Ability to interpret P&IDs, isometric drawings, and line lists; familiarity with ASME, API, and project-specific standards.
