In this position, you leverage it to produce and refine learning materials, design targeted interventions, oversee quality standards, and advance platform capability.
The rhythm resembles that of high-performance technology, advisory, or finance environments more than typical schooling, and the reward is full ownership of a subject's student outcomes across multiple locations.
This position centers on leading a functional area.
You will construct AI-driven enhancements for the learning ecosystem, react to performance indicators with focused interventions, produce evidence-backed decision documentation, and guide a team according to explicit benchmarks linked to MAP, AP, SAT, and ISEE performance.
You will also collaborate extensively with product, engineering, and data science to shape platform priorities.
It suits someone who instinctively turns to AI, conducts independent analysis, ships work amid uncertainty, and assumes full ownership of results.
It will disappoint anyone who favors consensus-driven timelines, minimal accountability, or reliance on established frameworks.
You will hold a central leadership position within the academics function, wielding meaningful influence over your subject's performance trajectory and the evolution of the broader learning infrastructure.

What You Will Be Doing
- Learning Ecosystem Enhancements — AI-produced refinements to subject-specific K–12 learning experiences, spanning content, adaptive sequencing, and student interventions, shaped by student input, platform analytics, assessments, and coaching observations.
- Data-Driven Academic Interventions — Focused support plans for underperforming students or groups, informed by MAP, AP, SAT, ISEE, and comparable performance metrics.
- Student Performance Decision Records — Reusable, evidence-grounded decisions that document improvement actions for student performance, backed by dashboards, analytics, support tickets, surveys, coaching interactions, and assessment results.
- Learning Ecosystem Improvement Specs — Actionable specifications for product, engineering, and data science development, detailing problem definitions, corroborating evidence, anticipated student outcomes, and success criteria.
What You Won’t Be Doing
- Dressing up traditional instruction with an AI veneer. This is not about moving classroom teaching onto digital screens – we are rethinking learning from first principles.
- Reviewing data in a vacuum. You will maintain regular contact with K-12 students, treating their feedback as critical input from the customers we serve.
- Waiting for alignment before advancing change. You will advocate for an ambitious vision and mobilize others around outcomes grounded in data.
- Clinging to established practices. You will have latitude to trial fresh approaches to engagement, evaluation, and pedagogy.
- Treating AI as a risk to education. In this environment, you will embrace AI as a powerful instrument to transform learning, not a hazard to be controlled.
Head Of Curriculum Key Responsibilities
Lead innovation in AI-enabled, teacher-less education to achieve outstanding student performance across multiple school sites.
Integrate data analysis with ongoing student interaction to refine the learning ecosystem continuously, measured by AP examination results and MAP growth indicators.
Basic Requirements
- Master's degree or higher in Educational Science, Learning Science, Psychology, Psychometrics, Instructional Design, or a related field
- At least 5 years of experience in academic or EdTech leadership roles, with direct people management responsibility (hiring, performance evaluation, coaching, termination decisions)
- Demonstrated experience using AI tools as part of day-to-day professional workflows, and willingness to rely on AI extensively to improve academic and operational outcomes.
- Strong understanding of learning science principles, such as Cognitive Load Theory and Mayer's Multimedia Principles, and data-driven educational approaches

Working with us
This is a full-time (40 hours per week), long-term position.
The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record.
The compensation level for this role is $100 USD/hour, which equates to $200,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year.
The payment period is weekly.
