About the role
The ZT1 Labs group is a small, senior product and engineering team working directly with the CEO on important, ambiguous, cross-functional initiatives.
The Group Product Manager owns a portfolio of ZT1 initiatives as a hands-on builder with direct product ownership and no direct people-management responsibilities.
The role owns vision, strategy, and roadmap for new products and platforms, partnering with engineering, analytics, design, revenue, and business teams to launch and scale them.
Product strategy and discovery
- Understand Affirm’s users, merchants, partners, customer needs, market trends, and relevant product, technology, and industry shifts.
- Identify zero-to-one opportunities and define high-priority problem spaces with the CEO and senior leaders.
- Create product vision, strategic narrative, and a prioritized roadmap for the innovation portfolio.
- Define outcomes and success measures tied to business impact, including GMV, profitability, conversion, retention, and long-term moat.
Product development and leadership
- Drive new product and platform lifecycle from discovery and validation through MVP definition, launch, and iteration.
- Own UI/UX and use AI tools to build and iterate on working prototypes.
- Write and refine customer-facing copy from onboarding through in-product guidance.
- Analyze customer behavior and funnels, and use data to guide product decisions.
- Own experimentation, including hypotheses, test design, success metrics, results analysis, and iteration.
- Coordinate ZT1 and core product roadmaps with cross-functional teams to support product quality and cohesive business results.
- Advise the CEO and executive team on new product bets, tradeoffs, and priorities; communicate decisions, risks, and plans clearly.
- Establish repeatable product patterns, decision frameworks, and execution standards; help shape the ZT1 function’s culture and operating model.
Experience sought
- Approximately 8–10+ years of product management experience and a strong track record shipping and scaling consumer-facing or platform products.
- End-to-end ownership of technical software products and ability to articulate business impact.
- Direct experience leading zero-to-one or highly ambiguous product areas with meaningful outcomes.
- Experience working with engineering, data, design, and other teams without direct authority, including coordinating complex cross-functional work.
- Founder or early-stage startup experience is a plus.
Skills and approach
- Hands-on fluency with AI tools for prototyping, design, content, and analysis, with judgment to evaluate and refine output.
- Comfort doing work directly without dedicated design, analytics, or content partners.
- Strong communication and ability to secure alignment from senior stakeholders with differing priorities.
- Ability to influence engineering teams outside the reporting line and guide product delivery.
- High judgment in ambiguous situations, strong commercial instincts, and ability to turn incomplete or conflicting information into action.
- Bias toward action, ownership, organizational discipline, interpersonal skill, and ability to move between strategy and execution.
Compensation
- Canadian base pay is CAD 209,000–269,000 per year.
- Compensation may include equity rewards, monthly health, wellness, and technology stipends, and benefits.
- The posting is for an existing vacancy.
Location and work arrangement
- This is a remote role open to candidates residing in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, or Saskatchewan.
- Affirm is remote-first; some roles may occasionally require office attendance, and new hires are invited to in-person onboarding.
Benefits
- Health premiums are covered for employees and dependents.
- Monthly stipends support technology, health, and wellness spending.
- The company offers flexible time off, holiday calendars, and an employee stock purchase plan.
