Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site General Foreman – Road Infrastructure role based in Dubai.
The General Foreman will oversee daily road construction and maintenance activities, coordinating crews, subcontractors, and heavy equipment to ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, and to specification.
Responsibilities include assigning tasks, monitoring productivity, enforcing safety standards, and ensuring proper use and maintenance of machinery and tools.
The role involves reading and interpreting drawings and work plans, checking material quality, resolving on-site issues, and reporting progress, risks, and resource needs to project engineers and site management.
The General Foreman will also support quality inspections, maintain site documentation, and contribute to continuous improvement of construction methods and work practices.
Qualifications
- Strong supervisory skills to lead, motivate, and coordinate diverse site teams, subcontractors, and labor resources.
- Hands-on experience with heavy equipment used in road infrastructure projects, including safe operation, basic troubleshooting, and coordination of equipment schedules.
- Effective communication skills for clear instructions to site personnel, coordination with engineers and management, and accurate reporting and documentation.
- Practical carpentry skills and familiarity with related construction trades relevant to formwork, minor structures, and finishing works on road projects.
- Experience in maintenance of roadworks, equipment, and site facilities, with a focus on preventive practices and minimizing downtime.
- Proven experience as a General Foreman or Foreman in road or civil infrastructure projects.
- Solid understanding of road construction methods, materials, and quality standards, including earthworks, sub-base, base, and asphalt works.
- Knowledge of construction-site health, safety, and environmental regulations, and ability to enforce compliance on site.
- Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and method statements, and translate them into practical work plans for crews.
- Relevant technical diploma or trade qualification in civil engineering or construction (or equivalent practical experience).
