GENERAL ACCOUNTANT

About This Role

Job Purpose:

To manage the company’s financial transactions, ensure accurate bookkeeping, maintain general ledgers, and support budgeting, auditing, and financial reporting functions, specifically aligned with the business model of vehicle and machinery rental.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts related to transport and machinery rental activities.
• Handle day-to-day accounting tasks including journal entries, accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, and petty cash.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
• Monitor income and expenditures related to rental contracts and ensure accurate billing and invoicing.
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting by compiling data and generating reports on fleet usage, costs, and revenue.
• Track assets, depreciation, and maintenance expenses of rented vehicles and equipment.
• Ensure compliance with UAE VAT regulations and file periodic VAT returns.
• Liaise with auditors and support internal and external audit processes.
• Coordinate with the operations and logistics teams for accurate recording of vehicle movements and rental status.
• Manage payroll entries and coordinate with HR for salary processing.
• Maintain accurate records of customer advances, deposits, and contract settlements.
• Monitor overdue payments and coordinate with clients for timely collections.
• Candidates with prior experience in a transport company are preferred.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience as an accountant, preferably in the transport or rental services industry.
• Proficiency in accounting software (SAP systems).
• Strong understanding of UAE VAT laws and accounting standards.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in handling financial data.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Good communication skills in English, Urdu.

Preferred:

• Experience in managing accounts for fleet-based or asset rental companies.
• Knowledge of vehicle registration, insurance, and maintenance cost tracking.
