Role responsibilities

  • Specialize in sweater and pullover sourcing and merchandising, using technical knowledge of knitwear construction, yarns, fabrics, knitting techniques, trims, and finishing.
  • Develop new specialist suppliers and factories, maintain vendor relationships, manage purchase orders, and procure production materials.
  • Manage costing, budgets, price negotiations, and cost optimization while protecting product quality and target margins.
  • Manage product development from design concepts and sampling through approvals, bulk production, and final delivery.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and production teams to meet approved samples, specifications, quality standards, and customer requirements.
  • Monitor production, inspect quality, resolve issues, and ensure timely order completion and shipment.
  • Oversee planning, capacity allocation, warehousing, storage, packaging, dispatch, and shipping.
  • Coordinate across design, sourcing, quality control, merchandising, and logistics; monitor costs, productivity, inventory, and resource use.
  • Ensure compliance with production safety procedures, quality standards, and buyer requirements.

Candidate requirements

  • Minimum five years of textile or apparel sourcing or merchandising experience; buying-house experience is preferred.
  • Substantial hands-on sweater or pullover merchandising or sourcing experience is essential. General apparel, woven garment, or denim experience alone is insufficient.
  • Strong knitwear knowledge, including yarn selection, knitting structures, stitch types, garment construction, washing, finishing, and quality standards.
  • Experience managing product development, sample approvals, costing, supplier negotiations, bulk production, and shipment follow-up for sweaters or pullovers.
  • Solid understanding of garment costing, order management, production planning, quality control, and delivery timelines.
  • A relevant degree or diploma is preferred; high-end fashion or quality-conscious buyer experience is an advantage.
  • Strong vendor management, negotiation, coordination, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Understanding of production safety, quality compliance, productivity, inventory control, and cost management.
