Role overview
Experienced Fashion Designer sought, with a strong focus on garment fit and creating flattering garments.
Design and fittings
- Manage design from conception through final styling and create aesthetically pleasing, functional fashion designs.
- Research trends and develop product ideas based on research.
- Select suitable fabrics, colors, patterns, and textures.
- Lead and participate in fittings to assess fit, drape, and aesthetics.
- Work with patternmakers to adjust patterns based on fitting feedback.
- Coordinate with design and sourcing teams on fabric selection, including drape and stretch.
- Keep up with trends and techniques in garment construction, fit, and sizing.
- Communicate fitting feedback and alterations to design, patternmaking, and production teams.
- Maintain quality standards and review style and fit during presentations.
- Coordinate with the Vice President on standards and design approvals.
- Develop and review pre-production samples for design quality and fidelity.
- Use pre-production samples in client presentations, photoshoots, and fashion shows to generate interest and secure orders.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or a related field.
- Proven Fashion Designer experience specializing in fittings, with a strong portfolio.
- In-depth knowledge of garment construction, patternmaking, and fit principles.
- Skills using Illustrator, Photoshop, and other design tools.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and a keen eye for fit and proportion.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Willingness to travel to China to carry out job responsibilities.
