Finance Systems Controller
Role Overview
Reports to the Head of Finance Transformation and works closely with the Senior Finance Systems Analyst within the Finance Systems capability.
Protects BAU stability while ensuring change is assessed, routed, and controlled throughout its lifecycle.
Provides finance-side systems stewardship across governance, controls, administration, master data, access, support, and automation guardrails.
Business processes, business controls, and operational decisions remain with the relevant line, process, or control owner under RACI.

Responsibilities
- Maintain an end-to-end view of the Finance Systems estate and its dependencies.
- Oversee finance-side governance, systems-control cohesion, system administration, master data, Delegation of Authority, and Segregation of Duties.
- Steward access and recertification, finance-side helpdesk and incident support, and AI and automation guardrails.
- Support Change Assessment and Routing (L1/L2 Triage) and steward the finance-side change-control lifecycle.
- Provide visibility and oversight of activity and the change funnel and pipeline for prioritisation and decision-making.
Minimum criteria
- Qualified accountant.
- Significant post-qualification experience across finance-side systems, processes, audit, controls, systems change, and transformation.
- Experience with core finance platforms, including ERP/accounting, treasury/banking, payments, reconciliation, planning, reporting, or service-management systems.
- Demonstrable track record requiring strong finance control, governance, evidence, and change-management judgement.
- Strong practical understanding of finance systems controls, BAU stability, auditability, and compliance.
- Proven experience supporting, assuring, or delivering finance-side systems change, including testing, implementation, and BAU transition.
- Strong communication, judgement, stakeholder-management, and assurance skills; able to influence, challenge, and support colleagues.
Desirable experience
- Experience in large, complex, regulated, agile, or matrix organisations is desirable.
- Experience with Oracle E-Business Suite, Alfa or comparable asset/lease-finance platforms, IT2, HSBCnet, Bottomline, AutoRek, OAS/OBIEE, Hyperion/SmartView, Jira/JSM, ServiceNow, or comparable systems is advantageous.
- Experience supporting automation, optimisation, AI adoption, or workflow improvement in a controlled finance environment is desirable.
- Experience with business process mapping and design, Lean, and root cause analysis is desirable.
Candidate profile
May have built a career through Finance or audit and moved into transformation, change, or systems environments.
Works confidently across Finance, Audit, Technology, consultants, vendors, and business owners.
Can identify dependencies and weak signals, ask relevant questions, and structure ambiguous issues or change scopes.
Uses sound judgement to coach, challenge, assure, or become directly involved while protecting BAU and enabling controlled improvement.
