About This Role

Job Description:

The Executive Director - National Program will be responsible for leading, directing, and strategizing the implementation of national programs that align with the organization's mission and vision. This role demands a dynamic leader with an unparalleled ability to manage complex projects across multiple states, foster stakeholder engagement, and ensure the execution of high-impact initiatives that drive programmatic excellence. The Executive Director will utilize their extensive knowledge of national policies, funding landscapes, and operational frameworks to advocate for the organization at various levels, establish strong partnerships, and cultivate a culture of innovation and accountability. The successful candidate will demonstrate a proven track record in mobilizing resources and collaborating with diverse teams to enhance program outreach and effectiveness.

Job Requirements:

  • A minimum of 15 years of progressive leadership experience in program management, preferably in a national or multi-state organizational context.
  • Exceptional understanding of federal and state regulations, funding mechanisms, and compliance requirements pertinent to national programs.
  • Proven ability to cultivate relationships with government agencies, philanthropic organizations, and community stakeholders to leverage resources and align program strategies.
  • Comprehensive experience in data analysis and performance measurement to inform program improvements and strategic decision-making.
  • Strong financial acumen, including budget development and oversight, revenue generation, and resource allocation in a non-profit or public sector setting.
  • Demonstrated experience in crisis management and conflict resolution, with a history of successfully navigating challenging situations.
  • Expertise in team leadership, including mentoring, developing, and retaining high-performing staff within a diverse organizational landscape.
  • Strong communication skills with a history of producing influential reports and presentations for various stakeholders, including boards and funders.
  • Capacity to think strategically and innovate while maintaining a strong operational focus to drive organizational success.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of national program strategies that align with the organizational mission, ensuring cohesive execution across all operational areas.
  • Collaborate with the senior leadership team to establish strategic goals and ensure alignment of the national program with overall organizational priorities.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and performance excellence within the organization by engaging with staff at all levels.
  • Oversee the financial management of national programs, including budgeting, forecasting, and ensuring compliance with funding stipulations.
  • Develop and implement metrics for performance evaluation and impact assessment to continuously refine program offerings.
  • Represent the organization at national forums, conferences, and meetings with strategic stakeholders to advocate for program goals and secure buy-in.
  • Lead risk assessment initiatives to identify and mitigate potential challenges while ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with government entities, community organizations, and other stakeholders to enhance program visibility and sustainability.
  • Spearhead capacity-building efforts to enhance the skills and competencies of staff, promoting professional development and succession planning.
  • Cultivate an inclusive organizational culture that values diversity, equity, and transparency, leading initiatives that celebrate and promote these core principles.
