Purpose

Conduct a technical assessment of the existing data, analytics, reporting, and integration ecosystem to identify architecture weaknesses, performance bottlenecks, scalability concerns, data quality issues, governance gaps, and operational risks.

Provide recommendations and a target-state architecture to improve reliability, maintainability, and scalability.

Architecture Review

  • Review existing data architecture, reporting architecture, and integration landscape.
  • Assess current-state databases, data warehouses, semantic models, and reporting platforms.
  • Evaluate scalability, maintainability, reliability, and performance of the overall architecture.
  • Identify architectural debt and areas of technical risk.

Data Platform Assessment

  • Review existing data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, transformation logic, and data flows.
  • Assess data lineage, data quality controls, reconciliation processes, and governance mechanisms.
  • Identify inefficiencies, duplicated logic, and data consistency issues.
  • Review source-to-report data flow and transformation layers.

Infrastructure & Performance Assessment

  • Assess database performance, query optimization, refresh processes, and resource utilization.
  • Review platform configurations, environments, deployment practices, and monitoring capabilities.
  • Identify bottlenecks impacting report performance, refresh reliability, or platform stability.
  • Evaluate disaster recovery, backup, and operational resilience capabilities.

Integration & Connectivity Review

  • Review system integrations, APIs, replication processes, and connectivity architecture.
  • Assess reliability of data movement between source systems and reporting platforms.
  • Identify latency, failure points, and integration risks.
  • Recommend improvements to integration design and monitoring.

BI & Reporting Assessment

  • Review reporting architecture, semantic models, and dashboard ecosystem.
  • Identify duplication, performance issues, and scalability concerns.
  • Assess adherence to BI best practices and governance standards.
  • Recommend improvements to reporting design and data consumption layers.

• Prioritized Remediation Plan

  • Executive Summary with Recommendations

Required Experience

  • 8+ years in Enterprise Architecture, Solution Architecture, Data Architecture, or Data Engineering Leadership.
  • Strong expertise in:
  • Data Warehousing
  • ETL/ELT Architecture

• Cloud & On-Prem Data Platforms

  • Proven experience conducting architecture reviews and platform assessments.
