Engineering Manager - Trading Platform

Position overview

Technology and key experience

• Technology stack includes .NET, AWS, SQL, APIs, Docker, microservices, and event-driven architecture.
• Key experience areas include distributed systems, IAM and authentication, microservices and micro apps, security, observability, traceability, and non-functional requirements.
• Messaging platforms include NATS and Kafka.

Leadership and team management

• Lead engineering teams responsible for trading systems and manage Tech Leads reporting to the role.
• Partner with Product, QA, Cloud, Security, Data, Compliance, Sales, Payments, Risk, Finance, and Support.
• Improve delivery predictability, team performance, and engineering execution; support hiring, technical interviews, and team expansion.

Architecture, development, and delivery

• Own architecture, development quality, and delivery execution of internal core systems.
• Ensure systems are scalable, secure, reliable, maintainable, and aligned with long-term technology goals; guide technical decisions.
• Resolve technical blockers, delivery risks, dependencies, and performance issues; drive documentation, code reviews, testing, CI/CD, and release readiness.

AI adoption and engineering productivity

• Promote responsible AI tool use to improve delivery speed, code quality, documentation, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Identify automation and AI opportunities to reduce manual work and improve engineering efficiency.

Experience

• 10+ years of software engineering experience; 5+ years in engineering leadership or technical management.
• 2+ years leading teams of 25 or more people; experience managing Tech Leads, senior engineers, or multiple workstreams.
• Experience owning business-critical system architecture, development, and delivery; modernizing legacy systems and scalable platform architectures.
• Experience integrating internal platforms with third-party systems.
• Financial services, fintech, brokerage, trading, payments, or regulated-industry experience is highly preferred.

Technical skills and practices

• Strong experience with .NET, SQL, APIs, and enterprise system architecture; good knowledge of AWS, cloud-native development, Docker, microservices, and distributed systems.
• Understanding of API design, event-driven architecture, data synchronization, and system interoperability.
• Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, monitoring, logging, and production support; practical use of AI tools to improve engineering productivity.
• Strong experience with Agile delivery; ability to manage multiple teams, squads, or technical workstreams.
• Understanding of release governance, technical planning, dependency management, and delivery risk management; balance business urgency with technical quality, security, stability, and maintainability.
• Focus on ownership, accountability, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement.

Preferred skills

• Preferred: experience in forex, CFD, brokerage, fintech, banking, payments, or regulated financial environments.
• Preferred: experience in integration-heavy environments with multiple internal and external platforms.
• Preferred: strong communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders and experience improving delivery predictability, team performance, and operational efficiency.
