Engineer – Commissioning (HVAC)

Role overview

Key responsibilities

• Execute HVAC pre-commissioning, commissioning, testing, and mechanical completion according to approved procedures and project schedules.
• Inspect and verify HVAC equipment, including chillers, AHUs, FCUs, air-conditioning units, ventilation fans, pumps, valves, ducting, and chilled-water piping.
• Perform functional testing and verify HVAC system operation and performance.
• Review HVAC drawings, equipment specifications, vendor data sheets, and commissioning documents.
• Assist with cooling-load and heat-load calculations and HVAC equipment selection.
• Identify technical issues, installation deficiencies, and commissioning punch-list items, and follow up on closure.
• Coordinate with Mechanical, Electrical, Piping, and other commissioning teams to ensure system readiness.
• Liaise with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and service engineers during commissioning.
• Prepare commissioning procedures, checklists, test reports, and completion documentation.
• Ensure compliance with PTW, LOTO, project quality standards, and HSE requirements.
• Support commissioning trials, system handover, warranty activities, and project close-out where applicable.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in HVAC system design, testing, and commissioning.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, cooling-load calculations, equipment selection, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with listed HVAC equipment and ability to interpret HVAC drawings, technical specifications, and vendor documentation.
• Knowledge of commissioning procedures, mechanical completion, preservation, and project handover requirements.
• Good communication, coordination, reporting, and problem-solving skills; knowledge of HSE, PTW, LOTO, and applicable marine/offshore standards.

Software and systems

• HVAC design software proficiency is required; Carrier HAP is preferred.
• Microsoft Project and Excel proficiency is required.
• Familiarity with WinPCS, PIMS, ProCoSys, GoCompletions, or equivalent project completion systems is required.

Preferred experience and availability

• Shipyard, marine, offshore, oil and gas, or industrial project experience is preferred.
• Immediate joiners and candidates interested in a 3–5 month extendable project are preferred.

• Full-time role based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
