Overview

Job Summary

Clinical Leadership

• Provide clinical oversight and leadership for all Emergency Department activities.
• Ensure delivery of high-quality, evidence-based emergency medical care.
• Develop and implement clinical protocols, guidelines, and best practices.
• Lead emergency response and disaster preparedness initiatives.

Management

• Manage daily operations of the Emergency Department.
• Monitor patient flow and implement strategies to reduce waiting times.
• Ensure adequate physician coverage and staffing levels.
• Participate in workforce planning and recruitment activities.

Quality & Patient Safety

• Lead quality improvement and patient safety programs.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and departmental outcomes.
• Investigate incidents, complaints, and adverse events and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, accreditation standards, and government regulations.

Team Leadership

• Supervise, mentor, and evaluate emergency physicians and medical staff.
• Foster a culture of teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
• Support education, training, and professional development initiatives.

Strategic & Administrative Responsibilities

• Participate in hospital committees and leadership meetings.
• Develop departmental goals aligned with organizational objectives.
• Prepare reports, budgets, and performance metrics.
• Collaborate with other departments to improve patient care coordination.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or equivalent recognized medical qualification.
• Completion of accredited residency training in Emergency Medicine.
• Board Certification in Emergency Medicine.
• Minimum 5 to 10 years in a leadership, supervisory, or department head role.
• Ability to work effectively in high-pressure environments.
• Willingness to relocate and work in Nauru.
