Director - Production & Technical Integration

Job Summary

Technical Strategy and Planning

• Develop technical strategy and planning requirements for venues, stages, and other Events & Entertainment assets.
• Create technical packages from creative and operational requirements across production systems.
• Develop staging drawings, lighting plots, sound plans, rigging schematics, and related documentation.
• Define delivery methodologies and requirements for reliable technical execution.

Technical Design and Integration

• Manage integration of audio, lighting, video, broadcast, rigging, show communications, and infrastructure requirements.
• Review technical packages for completeness, coordination, and alignment with creative and operational needs.
• Ensure technical requirements are integrated into the Master Plan and planning activities.
• Identify technical constraints and interdependencies, coordinate resolutions, and update plans for approved changes.

Master Plan and Venue Integration

• Maintain venue and constraints information, including dimensions, rigging capacities, power availability, and technical constraints.
• Assess venue and stage requirements against available technical capacities.
• Coordinate technical requirements across venues to optimize planning and reduce rework.
• Provide technical planning input based on venue capabilities, production requirements, and constraints.

Technical Standards, Quality and Readiness

• Develop and maintain technical production and safety standards.
• Apply safety-by-design requirements to technical packages, plans, and specifications.
• Coordinate testing, commissioning, and quality assurance reviews of equipment and systems.
• Conduct pre-event inspections and manage technical sign-off checklists.
• Support rehearsals and monitor technical readiness, system performance, quality, and reliability.

Technical Coordination and Reporting

• Coordinate stakeholders on technical requirements, documentation, constraints, interfaces, and readiness activities.
• Monitor technical deliverables, interdependencies, risks, and mitigation actions.
• Report technical readiness, risks, interdependencies, and mitigation plans through governance forums.
• Resolve technical issues affecting planning, design integration, or operational readiness.
• Conduct post-event reviews of technical metrics and risk logs to improve future events and activations.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Event Management and Organization, Media Production, Entertainment Management, or a related field.
• A minimum of 12 years of relevant experience is required for candidates with a bachelor’s degree.
• Requires strong leadership experience and a proven record of strategic decision-making.
• Requires large-scale event, exhibition, venue, stage, or entertainment production experience.
• Requires experience in master planning, venue planning, technical testing, commissioning, quality assurance, safety-by-design, and operational readiness.

Preferred Qualifications

• A master’s degree in a relevant field is preferred.
• PMP, CTS, or another recognized certification in project management, technical production, event management, or a related discipline is preferred.

Job-Specific Skills

• Strong knowledge of technical production systems, including audio, lighting, video, broadcast, rigging, show communications, and infrastructure.
• Strong technical planning, design integration, and production documentation capabilities.
• Strong knowledge of venue technical requirements, production constraints, technical readiness, technical standards, testing, commissioning, and quality assurance.
