Role overview
Design and coordinate fibre-optic and structured cabling systems for UAE projects.
Ensure designs meet project specifications, TDRA requirements, consultant standards, and applicable international standards.
Design and delivery responsibilities
- Design fibre networks, structured cabling, OSP/ISP infrastructure, MDF/IDF/TR rooms, racks, and cable pathways.
- Prepare AutoCAD drawings, fibre schematics, riser diagrams, rack layouts, schedules, and as-built drawings.
- Prepare BOQs, material take-offs, technical specifications, and material submittals.
- Design and coordinate SM/MM fibre, FTTx, Cat 6/Cat 6A, and backbone cabling systems.
- Prepare fibre routing, termination, splicing, patching, and connectivity schedules.
- Coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, telecom providers, and internal MEP/ELV teams.
- Review technical submissions, RFIs, shop drawings, and consultant comments.
- Support installation, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, final inspection, and project handover.
Site and testing duties
- Review OTDR, power-loss, and cable certification test reports.
- Conduct site surveys and verify existing conditions when required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Telecommunications, Electrical, Electronics, ICT, or a related engineering discipline.
- 3–6 years of experience in fibre optics, structured cabling, ICT, or ELV design.
- Strong knowledge of fibre-optic systems, OSP/ISP, FTTx, structured cabling, MDF/IDF, ODF/FDF, and telecom pathways.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office; knowledge of TDRA requirements and UAE approval processes.
- Strong technical documentation, coordination, and communication skills.
Preferred qualifications
- UAE/GCC project experience is preferred.
- Revit/BIM experience is an advantage.
- BICSI or fibre-optic certification is an advantage.
