Role overview

Experienced Deployment Engineer role on an initial six-month freelance contract, with possible extension based on project needs and performance.

Plans, coordinates, and executes software deployments across development, testing, and production environments.

Works with cross-functional teams to support smooth releases, system stability, and operational excellence.

Location and work arrangement

  • Role location is Abu Dhabi, Dubai, or Fujairah, UAE.
  • Hybrid arrangement combines onsite and remote work.

Key responsibilities

  • Plan and execute application and software deployments across multiple environments.
  • Manage release schedules and deployment activities.
  • Collaborate with Development, QA, Infrastructure, and Operations teams throughout releases.
  • Automate deployments and improve CI/CD pipelines.
  • Monitor deployments and troubleshoot issues during and after releases.
  • Support rollback strategies and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Maintain deployment documentation, release notes, and operational runbooks.
  • Ensure security, governance, and change management compliance.
  • Improve deployment efficiency, reliability, and performance.
  • Participate in release planning, risk assessment, and post-deployment reviews.

Required qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least four years in Deployment Engineering, Release Management, DevOps, or System Administration.
  • Strong understanding of software deployment and release management processes.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI/CD.
  • Hands-on Git and version control experience; familiarity with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes; knowledge of Linux and/or Windows server environments.
  • PowerShell, Bash, or Python scripting experience.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred qualifications

  • Enterprise-scale environment experience.
  • Familiarity with Terraform or Ansible, monitoring and observability platforms, and ITIL or change management processes.
  • Experience supporting highly available production environments or working in the UAE or GCC region.

Contract

  • Freelance / Independent Contractor engagement for an initial six months, with possible extension.
