Role and team

Data platform leadership

• Lead and grow a senior team of data engineers by setting direction, challenging thinking, and helping the team make decisions.
• Own Snowflake costs and execute a plan to reduce costs month over month.
• Define real-time data and platform enablement, including Kafka streaming and a Snowflake MCP server for AI tooling.
• Build observability so issues are identified before stakeholders discover them.
• Prioritize upgrades, migrations, and refactors based on business outcomes.
• Balance delivery speed and technical debt, and run standups, sprint and roadmap planning, architectural decisions, code review, and incoming work.

Experience and technical qualifications

• At least two years managing engineers, including senior team members.
• Deep hands-on production experience with Snowflake and dbt, including data modeling.
• Experience owning a production data platform.
• Strong fluency with AI tools and guiding a team building AI-enabled data capabilities.

Bonus experience

• Experience with AWS or GCP, Dagster or another data orchestrator, Fivetran, Hightouch, Terraform, Kafka, or other real-time data infrastructure is a bonus.
• Meaningful data platform improvements, such as cost reduction, reliability improvements, or new capabilities, are described as ideal experience.

Compensation

• The annual salary range is CAD 207,000 to CAD 253,000.
• The typical starting salary for candidates ready for the full role scope is CAD 230,000; offers may vary based on readiness, impact, or expanded scope.
