AWS seeks a hands-on Data Center Engineering Operations Engineer to maintain data center mechanical and electrical infrastructure and facility operations.
Engineering and facility operations
- Operate and maintain electrical and mechanical equipment, including UPSs, switchgear, circuit breakers, ATSs, diesel generators, chillers, HVAC, exhaust fans, VFDs, and transformers.
- Maintain emergency generator, HVAC, and fire and life safety equipment within the data center.
- Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events within internal SLAs and perform root cause analysis of equipment failures.
- Take routine rounds and record temperatures, voltages, currents, and other equipment readings.
- Supervise contractors carrying out equipment servicing or preventive maintenance.
- Drive innovation and reduce facility operating costs.
Safety responsibilities
- Maintain high safety standards and encourage a strong safety culture.
- Coordinate remediation of safety risks and issues with other teams.
- Own safety initiatives and projects.
Schedule and working conditions
- Work a rotational schedule of four 12-hour shifts, two days followed by two nights, then four days off; shifts include nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to emergency calls while off duty.
- Work may involve outdoor weather, noisy environments, heights, ladders, and occasional movement of objects or materials within regulatory limits.
