Role overview

Analysis and transportation insights

• Analyzes smart-card, mobile-ticket, and contactless-payment transactions for ridership, revenue, and passenger-flow trends.
• Builds KPI dashboards and reports covering ridership, fare evasion, peak usage, and revenue leakage; validates AFC data quality.
• Provides insights into passenger patterns, route performance, and network use; supports demand forecasting and capacity planning.
• Analyzes bus, metro, and tram integration and builds predictive models for ridership, fare optimization, and demand.
• Uses statistical methods and machine learning where applicable and conducts scenarios for policy or fare changes.

Data systems and collaboration

• Works with AFC vendors and internal IT on data pipelines and integrations; ETLs large datasets from AFC systems and data warehouses.
• Ensures data governance and security compliance.
• Collaborates with operations, finance, and planning teams, presents recommendations to senior stakeholders, and supports audits and regulatory reporting.

Education and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Transportation Engineering, or a related field; master’s degree preferred.
• 10+ years of data analysis experience, ideally in public transportation or mobility.
• Proven experience with AFC systems, such as Cubic, Thales, or Scheidt & Bachmann.

Technical and domain qualifications

• Advanced SQL; Python or R for analysis; data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
• ETL tools and data warehousing concepts; Hadoop or Spark experience is a plus.
• GIS tools such as ArcGIS or QGIS are listed for spatial analysis.
• Strong understanding of transit operations, fare structures, ticketing systems, KPIs, and performance metrics.

Preferred experience and capabilities

• Preferred experience includes smart mobility or digital ticketing transformation, contactless EMV, real-time transit analytics, and large metro, rail, or bus networks.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, communication and data storytelling, and cross-functional collaboration.
