The role is on-site full-time and leads cutover, release, and hypercare for the non-SAP estate of a large retail group undergoing a multi-year technology transformation.
The estate includes point of sale, order management, warehouse management, digital commerce, customer platforms, and supporting infrastructure; releases run back to back.
Cutover and release ownership
- Own an integrated, task-level cutover plan across workstreams, with task owners, timing, sequencing, and a defensible critical path.
- Agree entry criteria, go/no-go criteria, and decision gates with business and delivery stakeholders well before each release window.
- Design and run dress rehearsals, capture issues, and drive the plan to a rehearsed, executable state.
- Prepare rollback and contingency plans for each release before the cutover window.
- Lead the cutover command centre, including shift plans, progress tracking, communications, and escalation; chair go/no-go checkpoints and prepare decision packs.
Hypercare and release portfolio
- Coordinate the integrator and third-party vendors through execution against the plan.
- Agree and staff the hypercare model before go-live, including coverage, triage, severity definitions, and response expectations.
- Lead hypercare triage, resolution tracking, and daily reporting into programme governance; configure incident and change tooling to support the work.
- Complete the handover to business-as-usual against agreed exit criteria.
- Manage the release calendar, dependencies, freeze periods, and per-release capacity view for the portfolio director.
Required experience
- At least 10 years of IT delivery experience, including at least five years leading cutover and release on large, multi-system programmes.
- At least two enterprise go-lives owned end to end, including the plan, rehearsals, and command centre.
- Hands-on retail or consumer technology experience across point of sale, order management, warehouse management, e-commerce, or customer platforms.
- Experience defining and running hypercare and transitioning an estate into a permanent support organization.
- Delivery alongside a global system integrator, task-level planning discipline, and command centre experience including overnight and weekend windows.
- Clear, structured written and spoken English with senior stakeholders; calm judgment about escalation under time pressure.
Preferred experience
- Experience with SAP running alongside a non-SAP omnichannel estate, multi-country rollouts, a second-country release, or retail peak-trading periods is advantageous.
- Previous Middle East work and Arabic or French are advantageous.
Contract and compensation
- The position is a 12-month full-time contract, with extension based on performance.
- Compensation is a competitive monthly rate benchmarked to the candidate’s profile.
Schedule
- Availability is required for cutover windows outside normal working hours and over weekends.
