Role purpose

Perform hands-on actuarial production as an individual contributor, supporting the Manager across reserving, regulatory reporting, pricing support, and claims analytics.

Run data extraction, triangulation, model runs, template population, and reconciliations accurately and on time.

The role is described as an entry point into the actuarial profession, with development toward a future Manager role.

Reserving production

  • Extract, clean, and reconcile claims, premium, and exposure data for reserving cycles.
  • Run triangulations, basic development-factor calculations, and link-ratio analyses under Manager direction.
  • Run IBNR, URR, LRC, LIC, and risk-adjustment models using approved methodology and templates.
  • Populate reserving pack sections, movement tables, and schedules; flag anomalies and unusual patterns for review.

Regulatory reporting and analytics

  • Populate SAMA, CCHI, and CMA templates under Manager review and reconcile outputs to reserving packs, management reports, and the general ledger.
  • Prepare data extracts, working papers, and evidence packs for the external Appointed Actuary; maintain version control and submission evidence files.
  • Track regulatory deadlines and prompt ahead of cut-offs.
  • Support pricing for group renewals, SME, and Retail; analyze loss ratio, frequency, severity, and utilization by segment, cohort, and benefit.
  • Analyze claims costs, network leakage, age and mix decomposition, and pre-authorization impacts; refresh Operations dashboards and medical inflation tools.

Modelling, governance, and teamwork

  • Build supporting models using SAS, Python, R, or Excel under Manager direction; automate recurring analysis and reporting.
  • Improve data quality, reconciliation routines, and issue logs; validate outputs and document code, assumptions, inputs, and outputs.
  • Maintain audit-ready working papers, methodology notes, change logs, and the team's data-definition and methodology library.
  • Apply doer-checker and peer-review protocols; support internal and external audits and Appointed Actuary reviews.
  • Participate in process improvement, knowledge transfer, training, and mentoring; build cross-functional understanding through rotations, shadowing, and cross-training.

Qualifications and skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science or Mathematics.
  • Working knowledge of SAS, Python, R, SQL, and advanced Excel.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; clear technical writing and documentation; attention to detail and ownership of work quality.
  • Progress foundational SOA, IFoA, or CAS actuarial exams through the company-supported pathway.
  • Develop technical craft in SAS, Python, R, SQL, Excel, and IFRS 17 tooling.

Cross-functional learning

Build understanding of Underwriting, Claims, Pre-Auth, Operations, and Finance through rotations, shadowing, and cross-training.

Build working relationships across the actuarial team and partner functions.
