Qualifications
- At least 1–2 years of relevant experience as a Cook or in a similar kitchen role.
- Good knowledge of food preparation, cooking methods, kitchen procedures, and food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards.
- Ability to follow recipes, portion sizes, and preparation instructions and to operate basic kitchen equipment safely.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen; good teamwork and communication skills.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods; reliable, punctual, and responsible.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, weekends, and holidays when required.
Cooking and food handling
- Prepare and cook meals according to established recipes, menus, and quality standards.
- Ensure food is prepared and served in a timely and hygienic manner.
- Handle, store, and prepare food in accordance with food safety and hygiene standards.
- Check the quality and freshness of ingredients before use.
- Follow cooking methods, portion sizes, and presentation standards.
Kitchen operations
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, cooking equipment, utensils, and work areas.
- Monitor food portions and minimize food wastage.
- Assist with menu preparation and suggest improvements when required.
- Store and label food items and ingredients properly.
- Monitor stock levels and inform the supervisor when ingredients or supplies need replenishment.
- Operate equipment safely and report damaged or malfunctioning equipment.
- Coordinate with kitchen staff, follow company policies and health and safety regulations, and assist with end-of-shift cleaning and closing procedures.
- Perform other duties related to kitchen operations as assigned by the supervisor.
