Role overview

The Control Room Technician operates and monitors the engine production test cell and reports to the Senior Technician – Production Testing.

The role executes approved test sequences, monitors live engine parameters, and responds to alarms, limits, or abnormal behaviour.

Testing involves gas turbine engines operating with fuel, high temperatures, and rotating machinery, requiring disciplined, safety-first work.

Responsibilities

  • Operate control room systems and execute approved test sequences using HMI or test software according to procedures.
  • Monitor live temperatures, pressures, vibration, thrust, and speed; perform start, stop, hold, and emergency shutdown actions when criteria are met.
  • Perform pre-test and post-test checks, leak checks, and support rigging and de-rigging of the unit under test.
  • Secure the cell after each run and conduct first-level test equipment and instrumentation checks.
  • Track calibration status and consumables.
  • Record results with full traceability, including serial numbers and configurations; report discrepancies and anomalies.
  • Stop a test and report immediately whenever something appears wrong, even if readings remain within limits.
  • Support production schedules, comply with AS9100, contribute to EHS and 5S, and collaborate with production, test engineering, and quality teams.

Basic qualifications

  • Technical diploma or vocational qualification in electrical, electronics, mechanical, or mechatronics, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 3 years operating test stations, control rooms, or industrial test equipment in a manufacturing or test environment.
  • Ability to read and strictly follow written test procedures and work instructions in English.
  • Experience operating test or HMI software.
  • Knowledge of AS9100 and ISO standards.
  • Willingness to work shifts if required by the test schedule.

Preferred experience

  • Familiarity with data acquisition systems and instrumentation is an advantage.
  • Experience with fuel systems, pressurized systems, or rotating machinery is an advantage.
