Role overview

Commissioning duties

• Ensure safe, efficient commissioning in line with project specifications, industry standards, and client requirements.
• Coordinate pre-commissioning through start-up, validating system performance and functionality.
• Develop commissioning plans, procedures, checklists, and documentation aligned with schedules and strategies.
• Coordinate with engineering, construction, operations, quality teams, and vendors for construction-to-operations transition.
• Lead system walkdowns, inspections, and functional tests; verify readiness for mechanical completion and turnover.
• Monitor progress, report KPIs and readiness, identify issues, and implement corrective actions.
• Enforce HSE procedures, conduct risk assessments, and ensure required work permits are in place.
• Prepare complete and accurate as-built records, test reports, handover dossiers, and operating manuals.
• Support troubleshooting, loop checking, dynamic testing, performance verification, and resolution of start-up anomalies.
• Coach and mentor direct reports and support recruitment, succession planning, performance expectations, and staff development.
• Promote discipline procedures and technical assurance, monitor standards compliance, and participate in incident investigations as needed.
• Manage stakeholders and resources; provide discipline expertise and perform as Technical Authority when appointed.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, or Chemical Engineering, or an equivalent technical discipline.
• 5–10 years of hands-on pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up experience on large-scale industrial, energy, or oil and gas projects.
• Vendor equipment-specific commissioning training is a plus.

Technical and professional skills

• Understanding of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and process systems commissioning procedures.
• Ability to interpret P&IDs, single-line diagrams, equipment datasheets, loop drawings, and control philosophies.
• Proficiency in dynamic commissioning, functional testing, and start-up troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with system completions tools and turnover packages such as MC, RFC, and RFSU documentation.
• Leadership, coordination, problem-solving, decision-making, communication, and safe work practices.
• Flexibility to work in remote or challenging site environments and adjust to project timelines.
