Role overview
As a Commis III, the role supports the Culinary team with food preparation and cooking, contributing to safe, efficient kitchen operations and quality dining.
Responsibilities
- Assist chefs and senior kitchen colleagues with daily food preparation and cooking; prepare ingredients to recipes, standards, and instructions.
- Wash, peel, cut, portion, and weigh ingredients; assist with mise en place and prepare ingredients for service.
- Keep workstations, equipment, and utensils clean and organized; follow recipes, preparation methods, and portion guidelines.
- Store, label, and handle food properly; check ingredient freshness and quality and report concerns.
- Support busy service, minimize waste, and use ingredients efficiently.
- Assist with receiving and organizing supplies when required; follow direction from kitchen leaders and perform other reasonable assigned duties.
Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of food preparation and kitchen operations.
- Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards.
- Good teamwork and communication; willingness to learn and develop culinary skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen.
- Culinary or hospitality education or certification and previous kitchen experience are advantages.
