CMDB Engineer role focused on configuration data management, governance, quality, and stewardship.
Experience and certifications
- At least 5 years of overall configuration or data-management experience, including at least 4 years with ServiceNow.
- Proposed mandatory credentials are current ServiceNow CSA and ITIL 4 Foundation; credentials and applicable maintenance status should be validated.
- CIS-Discovery, Service Mapping, or relevant CMDB/CSDM learning credentials are desirable.
Required technical skills
- CI and class maintenance, relationship maintenance, imports and transform maps, IRE/reconciliation troubleshooting, and CMDB health reporting.
- Apply CSDM concepts, ownership attestation, lifecycle controls, and traceable data remediation; distinguish source defects from stewardship gaps.
Responsibilities
- Maintain CMDB accuracy, completeness, and stewardship with Observability and service owners.
- Govern CI lifecycle, ownership, and relationships; investigate duplicate or stale records and coordinate source-owner remediation.
- Maintain approved IRE and source-precedence rules rather than redesigning the platform model; produce reliable ITSM and control evidence.
- Escalate model and security decisions to Digital Workplace.
- Maintain stewardship/lifecycle procedures, source-owner register, reconciliation controls, quality baseline, and remediation backlog.
- Maintain agreed-scope relationships and service links and produce attestation, exception, and control-ready remediation evidence.
- Hand over data dictionaries and BAU runbooks and provide internal training with clear stewardship accountability.
