Liferay Full Stack Developer

Role summary

Development and platform responsibilities

• Build modular Liferay applications with Java, Spring, OSGi, Liferay Workspace, Gradle, and platform extension points.
• Develop RESTful and headless APIs, GraphQL or REST integrations, web services, and secure connections to internal and external systems.
• Create Service Builder entities, schemas, persistence layers, upgrade processes, and migration scripts.
• Build responsive frontend experiences with HTML5, CSS3/Sass, JavaScript/TypeScript, React or Angular, and Liferay interface components.
• Implement accessible interfaces following WCAG 2.1 AA and responsive-design standards.
• Configure Liferay sites, pages, permissions, workflows, forms, content, documents, search, localization, and multilingual or multisite features.
• Implement authentication and authorization using applicable SSO and identity protocols.
• Tune performance, search, caching, database access, JVM behavior, and frontend delivery; investigate using logs and monitoring.
• Write unit, integration, API, and UI tests; conduct code reviews and maintain coding, security, and documentation standards.
• Support CI/CD, configuration management, releases, and deployments across Development, UAT, and Production.
• Troubleshoot incidents, perform root-cause analysis, implement fixes, and maintain runbooks and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams using Agile/Scrum delivery practices.

Required technical experience

• Strong Java, Spring, OSGi, and Liferay DXP/Portal development experience; Liferay DXP 7.4 or comparable supported version is preferred.
• Hands-on Liferay Workspace, Gradle, modules, portlets/widgets, Service Builder, Client Extensions, and Liferay API experience.
• Frontend proficiency in HTML5, CSS3/Sass, JavaScript ES6+, TypeScript, and React or Angular.
• Experience with Liferay themes, fragments, templates, Clay UI, FreeMarker, and JSP.
• Experience with REST/headless APIs, JSON, integrations, and API gateways or microservices familiarity.
• RDBMS experience with SQL tuning and schema design; knowledge of Elasticsearch or OpenSearch in Liferay environments.
• Practical knowledge of application security, OWASP Top 10, secure coding, secrets management, TLS, OAuth 2.0, JWT, SSO, LDAP, SAML, and OpenID Connect.
• Experience with Git, branching, build tools, CI/CD, artifact repositories, and release management.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, Linux, servers, reverse proxies, JVM configuration, logging, and monitoring.

Delivery skills

• Analytical, debugging, problem-solving, and root-cause analysis capabilities.
• Ability to translate business and UX needs into secure, maintainable solutions.
• Understanding of enterprise architecture, integration, scalability, availability, disaster recovery, and production support.
• Technical communication, documentation, estimation, stakeholder collaboration, and Agile/Scrum skills; Azure DevOps or Jira experience is referenced.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 4–8+ years of full-stack software development experience.
• 2–5+ years of hands-on Liferay DXP/Portal development and customization experience.
• At least one enterprise-grade Liferay implementation delivered through development, integration, testing, deployment, and support.

Preferred experience

• Liferay Certified Professional Developer or relevant Java, cloud, DevOps, security, or accessibility certification.
• Experience with Liferay DXP Cloud, Liferay SaaS/PaaS, or Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud deployments.
• Experience with data portals, dashboards, content-heavy platforms, open data, smart city, or government digital services.
• Experience with API management, event-driven integration, message brokers, or microservices.
• Familiarity with Power BI; knowledge of data governance, privacy, cybersecurity, secure SDLC, vulnerability remediation, or government compliance.
• Arabic/English multilingual portal implementation experience is an advantage.
