Civil Engineer - Project Management: Power

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Supervise civil works for power substations and cable projects against approved drawings, specifications and project requirements.
• Inspect progress, workmanship, quality and schedule adherence at site.
• Coordinate with EPC contractors, engineering consultants, project teams and power utilities.
• Review method statements, inspection and test plans, checklists and related technical documents.
• Ensure construction follows approved designs, standards and safety requirements.
• Prepare and follow up site memos, NCRs and field change requests; coordinate corrective action for site challenges and deviations.
• Verify technical and quality compliance, maintain site records and progress documentation, and help resolve issues and prevent delays.
• Monitor contractor performance against scope, schedule, quality and safety requirements.
• Support corrective and preventive actions; participate in site meetings, technical discussions and progress reviews; provide practical recommendations.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• At least 10 years of relevant infrastructure experience, particularly in power substations and power cable projects.
• EPC contractor and/or engineering consultant experience is preferred.
• Experience coordinating with power utilities and stakeholders, and practical site supervision of substation and cable civil works.
• Overhead line project experience is advantageous.
• Knowledge of construction drawings, technical specifications, method statements, inspection checklists and quality-control procedures.
• Experience preparing and following up site memos, NCRs and field change requests.
• Strong coordination, problem-solving, communication and reporting skills; able to manage multiple activities in a predominantly site-based environment.
