Civil Engineer

Role overview

Construction supervision and quality

• Review contractor progress, schedules, method statements, ITPs, and compliance with RTA standards and project specifications.
• Monitor earthworks, concreting, structural works, waterproofing, post-tensioning, bearing installation, and asphalt works.
• Verify materials against approved submittals and contract requirements; monitor contractor manpower, equipment, and daily progress.
• Review shop drawings, material submittals, RFIs, method statements, and NCR close-outs.
• Inspect piers, abutments, retaining and wing walls, slabs, box culverts, expansion joints, bearings, precast elements, and waterproofing.
• Identify contract deviations, recommend corrective actions, and ensure timely rectification.
• Ensure inspections follow approved ITPs and QCS/ISO quality management systems.

Coordination, safety, and reporting

• Coordinate with contractors, utility agencies, authorities, and structural, road, geotechnical, drainage, and traffic teams.
• Liaise with RTA and Dubai Municipality on standards, permits, NOCs, approvals, and site clearances.
• Support the Resident Engineer with site instructions, NCRs, and technical clarifications.
• Monitor safety-plan and HSE compliance; report hazards and address violations, including risks from lifting, scaffolding, excavation near live traffic, and work at heights.
• Attend progress meetings, prepare reports, and maintain daily diaries, inspection reports, material verification sheets, and punch lists.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• At least 8 years of demonstrable experience supervising road and highway construction.
• Previous experience in Dubai is required; previous RTA approval is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of RTA standards, Dubai Municipality codes, and UAE infrastructure guidelines.
• Experience with bridge structures, underpasses, box culverts, post-tensioning, precast or prestressed concrete, and traffic diversions.
