Civil Draftsman

Role Overview

Project Scope

• Support ICT, telecommunications, structured cabling, ELV, security, audiovisual, smart systems, data-centre infrastructure, and associated power, mechanical, and architectural interfaces.
• Work with engineers, BIM coordinators, document controllers, vendors, construction personnel, and commissioning teams.

Drawing Production and Coordination

• Prepare plans, sections, elevations, details, schematics, single-line diagrams, riser diagrams, and installation drawings.
• Produce structured cabling, fiber, rack, containment, telecommunications, security, audiovisual, and smart-system drawings.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary information and identify spatial and technical clashes.

BIM and Revision Management

• Create, update, and extract coordinated BIM information in accordance with the project BIM execution plan.
• Incorporate approved comments, technical queries, vendor data, design changes, and site instructions with full revision traceability.
• Prepare and update coordinated shop drawings and installation information.

As-Built and Document Control

• Update drawings using verified red-line markups, inspection records, and site information for handover.
• Maintain drawing registers, native files, reference files, transmittals, naming conventions, issue status, and revision histories.
• Support procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning through timely drawing deliverables.

Required Experience

• Minimum 5 years of engineering drafting experience in ICT, telecommunications, ELV, security, smart systems, data centres, buildings, or technology-intensive EPC projects.
• Minimum 3 years using industry-standard design tools for coordinated 2D drawings and BIM-based documentation.
• Minimum 3 years supporting design and construction delivery in controlled EPC project environments.

Knowledge and Skills

• Interpret engineering inputs and prepare clear, accurate, and appropriately scaled drawings, schematics, layouts, and installation details.
• Apply knowledge of structured cabling, fiber optics, equipment rooms, racks, containment, telecommunications, security, audiovisual, and smart systems.
• Use revision control, drawing registers, red-line management, quality checks, and as-built documentation practices.

Education and Certifications

• Diploma or Associate qualification in engineering drafting, CAD, electrical engineering, electronics, telecommunications, architecture, or a related technical discipline.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology, Design, or a related field is advantageous.
• AutoCAD certification, Revit or BIM training, and telecommunications, ELV, or data-centre drafting training are preferred or advantageous.

Technical Competencies

• Use AutoCAD to produce 2D engineering drawings, schematics, details, layouts, and coordinated construction documentation.
• Use Revit and BIM workflows to create models, views, sheets, annotations, and model-derived drawings.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary drawings and models and support resolution of identified conflicts.
