Chief Financial Officer

About This Role

We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Chief Financial Officer to lead our finance function in the UAE. You will oversee all financial planning, risk management, reporting, and compliance in line with UAE regulatory standards (including VAT, Corporate Tax, and ESR). The ideal candidate is a strategic partner to the CEO, driving profitability, cash flow optimization, and business growth in a competitive local market.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Strategy & Planning

• Develop and execute the company’s financial strategy, aligning with short-term and long-term business objectives.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning processes.
• Provide data-driven insights to the Board and C-suite on profitability, cost control, and ROI for new ventures.

Accounting & Compliance (UAE Specific)

• Ensure full compliance with UAE VAT (Federal Tax Authority), Corporate Tax (CT), Economic Substance Regulations (ESR), and Ultimate Beneficial Ownership (UBO) reporting.
• Oversee the preparation of financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
• Manage statutory audits, internal audits, and liaise with the relevant free zone or mainland authorities (e.g., DED, SCA).

Treasury & Cash Management

• Optimize cash flow, working capital, and banking relationships across UAE banks (local and international).
• Manage foreign exchange risk, financing facilities, and loan covenants.
• Oversee payroll, WPS (Wage Protection System), and supplier payments.

Risk & Governance

• Implement robust internal controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard assets.
• Identify and mitigate financial, operational, and regulatory risks.
• Ensure proper insurance coverage for business assets and liabilities.

Team Leadership

• Lead, mentor, and develop the finance, accounting, and procurement teams (size: [X] employees).
• Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.

Stakeholder Management

• Present financial results and forecasts to the Board, investors, and lenders.
• Act as the primary liaison with external auditors, tax consultants, lawyers, and regulatory bodies.

Qualifications & Experience

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics. MBA or Master’s in Finance strongly preferred.
• Certifications: Professional accounting qualification is mandatory (e.g., CPA, CA, ACCA, CMA).
• Experience:
• Minimum 10-15 years of progressive finance experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role (CFO, Finance Director, or VP Finance).
• Proven experience working in the UAE or broader GCC region for at least 5-7 years.
• Prior experience in [Your Industry – e.g., construction, e-commerce, manufacturing] is highly desirable.
• Technical Skills:
• Deep knowledge of UAE VAT, Corporate Tax, ESR, and IFRS.
• Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or Odoo) and advanced Excel.
• Experience with banking, treasury, and trade finance in the UAE.

• High integrity and ethical judgment (critical for local compliance).
• Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
• Fluent in English (Arabic is a strong plus).
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight regulatory deadlines.
