Chief Engineer

Job summary

Key responsibilities

• Lead department operations and maintain guest rooms, public and back-of-house areas, facilities, and technical equipment.
• Oversee HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, BMS, fire and life-safety systems, generators, elevators, kitchen equipment, swimming pools, and other hotel systems.
• Run preventive and corrective maintenance programs, inspect facilities, and resolve issues promptly.
• Lead and develop the engineering team; schedule duties, allocate assignments, and monitor performance.
• Ensure UAE, Civil Defence, health and safety, environmental, and hotel-policy compliance.
• Manage budgets, operating expenses, maintenance costs, CAPEX, contractors, suppliers, consultants, AMCs, and statutory inspections.
• Deliver energy and water conservation initiatives; support renovations, refurbishments, and engineering projects.
• Respond to emergencies, maintain engineering records and inventories, coordinate with hotel leadership, and improve cost, efficiency, and asset reliability.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in mechanical or electrical engineering, facilities management, or a related technical field.
• At least 5–8 years of hospitality engineering or maintenance experience; 4- or 5-star hotel experience is preferred.
• Prior experience as a Chief Engineer, Director of Engineering, or Cluster Chief Engineer.
• Strong knowledge of hotel MEP, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, BMS, fire and life-safety systems, and building maintenance.
• Experience managing engineering teams, contractors, budgets, CAPEX, and maintenance projects.
• Knowledge of UAE health, safety, fire and life-safety, and regulatory requirements; strong preventive-maintenance and asset-management understanding.
• Leadership, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills; energy and sustainability experience is an advantage.
• GCC/UAE hospitality experience is highly preferred.

Pay

• AED 8,000–10,000 per month.
