The role coordinates kitchen workers and helps ensure food quality, presentation, and safe kitchen operations.
Kitchen duties
- Supervise and coordinate cooks and kitchen workers; determine food presentation and create decorative displays.
- Ensure proper portions, arrangement, and garnish; monitor food quantities and quality.
- Prepare special meals or substitutes, assist kitchen staff, and provide needed items.
- Monitor kitchen supplies and food stock; maintain food safety and product logs.
- Tell food and beverage staff about menu specials and items that are out of stock; notify the manager about products that fail specifications.
Team and service duties
- Assist management with hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining, and coaching employees.
- Follow safety, security, and quality procedures; report maintenance needs, accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions.
- Address guest service needs, communicate professionally, and build positive working relationships.
Preferred qualifications
- Technical, trade, or vocational school degree preferred.
- 4 to 6 years of related work experience preferred.
- At least 2 years of supervisory experience preferred.
- No license or certification specified.
