Role overview

Education and experience

• Either a high school diploma or GED and 4 years of experience in food and beverage, culinary, or a related professional area; or a relevant two-year degree and 2 years of related experience.
• Relevant two-year degree fields include Food Service Management, Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related major.

Restaurant team management

• Handle employee questions and concerns, monitor performance, provide feedback, and assist with daily shift supervision.
• Supervise the restaurant and related areas when the Director of Restaurants or Restaurant Manager is absent.
• Communicate departmental goals and ensure employees have proper supplies, equipment, and uniforms.
• Supervise ongoing training, communicate performance expectations, and coach and counsel employees.

Restaurant operations and service

• Assist with menu planning and sanitation standards; support servers and hosts during peak meal periods.
• Communicate food quality and service issues to the Chef and Restaurant Manager and ensure policy and standards compliance.
• Monitor alcohol service for compliance with local laws, manage budgeted goals, open and close shifts, and perform restaurant duties as needed.
• Gather guest feedback, oversee staffing levels, encourage excellent service, handle complaints, and meet and greet guests.
• Review guest comments and satisfaction results with employees and work to improve service performance.
• Share information with colleagues, analyze information to solve problems, and recognize quality products and presentations.
