Role summary
The carpenter constructs, installs, and repairs gypsum board and wooden structures with craftsmanship and precision.
Gypsum board work
- Measure and cut boards to fit; prepare surfaces to be clean, dry, and aligned.
- Fasten boards to metal or wood frames and ensure they are flush and aligned.
- Tape, mud, and sand joints; apply primer and paint as required.
Woodworking
- Build, install, and repair cabinets, trim, moldings, and partitions according to blueprints and specifications.
- Cut, shape, and assemble wood components with precise measurements and fitting.
- Sand, stain, paint, or varnish wooden surfaces for a high-quality finish.
Quality, safety, and client service
- Inspect work against quality standards and project specifications; identify and repair defects.
- Follow safety protocols, use PPE as required, organize work areas, and maintain tools and equipment.
- Communicate with clients about needs, preferences, progress, and concerns, and represent the company professionally.
Experience and technical skills
- Proven carpentry experience with a strong background in gypsum board installation and woodworking.
- Proficiency with relevant hand tools, power tools, and equipment; ability to interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Understanding of applicable building codes, safety regulations, and industry best practices.
Other qualifications
- Ability to lift heavy materials and perform physical work requiring stamina and dexterity.
- Strong attention to accuracy and craftsmanship.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational carpentry training is preferred.
- Relevant carpentry or gypsum installation certification is a plus.
