The role generates leads through outreach and market research and supports the sales team in meeting targets.
Business development and sales duties
- Research markets and identify prospective clients; generate leads through email and other outreach.
- Develop business development strategies using customer needs, economic trends, and industry insights.
- Support business development associates and present pitches, product demonstrations, and reports to prospects.
- Build client relationships, assess needs, recommend products or services, and upsell where appropriate.
- Manage prospective accounts, monitor sales metrics, and meet activity goals and quotas.
- Train sales and customer service colleagues; participate in trade shows, meetings, webinars, and training.
- Maintain CRM contact records and report on business development, leads, and sales performance.
Required experience and skills
- 3–4 years of experience in business development, customer service, or sales.
- Proven lead generation, sales quota, and business development results.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, including presentation skills.
- Hands-on experience with cold calling, email outreach, and direct sales.
- Strong understanding of sales performance metrics and data-driven results.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- CRM familiarity, including Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar platforms, is a plus.
