Building Envelope Engineer | Façade Design Specialist

Design and technical coordination

• Develop and review envelope designs, curtain walls, cladding, glazing, and external wall components; translate architectural concepts into feasible engineering solutions.
• Assess loads, movement, deflection, constructability, durability, compliance, and façade component support systems.
• Coordinate with architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and building services teams; resolve technical interfaces with consultants, contractors, fabricators, and suppliers.
• Evaluate glass, aluminum, steel, stone, precast concrete, composite panels, and insulation; prepare drawings, details, specifications, schedules, and calculations.
• Review shop drawings, fabrication and installation details, technical submissions, and proposed design changes or substitutions.
• Assess air and water penetration, insulation, condensation, thermal bridging, solar heat gain, energy efficiency, acoustics, and fire-safety considerations.
• Coordinate waterproofing at joints, parapets, balconies, roofs, windows, and façade penetrations.
• Review performance, lifecycle cost, aesthetics, maintenance, budget, supplier submissions, and compliance; participate in design reviews and value engineering.

Testing, site work, and documentation

• Support façade mock-ups and laboratory or on-site performance testing; review air leakage, water penetration, structural, thermal, and other specified test results.
• Investigate defects such as water ingress, sealant failure, cracking, corrosion, and material deterioration; recommend corrective actions and repairs.
• Inspect site installation quality, workmanship, materials, and compliance with approved drawings; monitor progress and coordinate technical clarifications.
• Prepare technical reports, calculations, compliance documentation, tender scopes, specifications, and cost assessments.
• Maintain records of design revisions, calculations, queries, inspections, and approvals; identify improvements to design, detailing, quality, and performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, Building, or Architectural Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Relevant experience in façade engineering, building envelope design, curtain walls, cladding, or external wall construction.
• Strong knowledge of façade assemblies, materials, structural behavior, wind loading, anchorage, movement, waterproofing, airtightness, moisture, thermal performance, glazing, and cladding.
• Ability to interpret drawings and construction documentation; experience preparing or reviewing façade drawings, submissions, calculations, and specifications.
• Familiarity with relevant codes, façade standards, fire safety, local regulations, and façade performance testing methods.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and design or drafting software; proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Revit/BIM, 3D modeling, structural or thermal tools, sustainability frameworks, and professional registration or façade certifications are advantageous or beneficial.
• Strong analytical judgment, attention to detail, communication, coordination, and ability to manage concurrent design packages and deadlines.
• Willingness to participate in site inspections, technical meetings, and façade testing as required.
