Role overview

Responsibilities

• Design automated production systems, robotic cells, and industrial automation concepts based on production requirements and technical specifications.
• Program and configure industrial robots, PLCs, motion-control systems, sensors, and automated equipment; develop robotic applications for manufacturing processes.
• Integrate robots with conveyors, vision systems, sensors, actuators, safety devices, and production equipment; develop PLC programs, control logic, HMI interfaces, and machine sequences.
• Configure industrial communication networks; commission, test, troubleshoot, and validate automated equipment; teach and calibrate robots and optimize paths and cycle times.
• Integrate machine vision for inspection, measurement, identification, and robot guidance; assess processes and automation project feasibility.
• Develop solutions to reduce manual work, costs, cycle times, and process variability; prepare layouts, control concepts, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Collaborate across engineering disciplines, resolve system issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
• Support installation, acceptance testing, commissioning, and production ramp-up; monitor performance and automation KPIs.
• Implement preventive and predictive maintenance; develop machine-safety controls and ensure applicable engineering, safety, quality, and operational standards are met.
• Maintain programs, software versions, configurations, backups, and technical records; train and support technicians, operators, and maintenance teams.
• Research robotics, AI, machine vision, automation, and Industry 4.0 technologies.

Requirements

• Diploma or bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Robotics, Electrical, Mechanical, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
• Previous experience in industrial automation, robotics, controls engineering, manufacturing engineering, or a similar role.
• Strong understanding of automation, control systems, robotics, and manufacturing processes; hands-on PLC programming or configuration experience.
• Experience with industrial robots such as ABB, FANUC, KUKA, Yaskawa, or Universal Robots; knowledge of HMI, SCADA, motion control, servo systems, sensors, actuators, and control equipment.
• Understanding of industrial communication protocols such as Ethernet/IP, PROFINET, Modbus, or EtherCAT.
• Ability to interpret schematics, drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications; strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis capabilities.
• Understanding of machine safety, risk assessment, guarding, and safety-control systems.
• Ability to work in manufacturing, laboratory, or industrial environments; strong project coordination, documentation, communication, teamwork, and independent work skills.
• Willingness to travel to production sites, customer locations, or project facilities when required.
• Machine vision experience; robot simulation, offline programming, CAD, or automation design software familiarity; programming languages; Industry 4.0 experience; and relevant certifications are advantageous or preferred.
