Role overview

Education and experience

• Either a high school diploma or GED, two years of engineering/maintenance or related professional experience, and technical training in HVAC-R, electrical, or plumbing.
• Alternatively, a two-year degree from an accredited university in Building and Construction, Engineering, Mechanics, or a related major; no experience is required for this path.

Engineering operations and budgets

• Help manage equipment and systems including refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, water treatment, and electrical systems; support compliance with facility regulations and safety standards.
• Assist with energy conservation, service contract specifications and administration, work-order distribution, and monitoring timely, quality completion.
• Support grounds, guestrooms, public spaces, restaurants, vehicles, and recreational facility maintenance, plus preventive maintenance and asset-protection planning.
• Develop project plans for renovation or new construction and coordinate contractors to complete work on time and within budget.
• Maintain relationships with building and zoning departments, fire prevention services, vendors, and other external customers.
• Ensure fire crews understand procedures, equipment, and alarms; inspect property and guest areas and assess facility conditions.
• Recommend or arrange repairs, painting, renovations, and replacement furnishings or equipment; purchase supplies and manage parts inventory.

Property standards and guest service

• Keep building and equipment licenses and certifications current and maintain life-safety systems, including fire-fighting equipment, sprinklers, and alarms.
• Promote guest hospitality and a positive atmosphere; establish employee expectations and review guest feedback to identify improvements.
• Share improvement plans with property leadership, ensure corrective action, and work to improve service performance.
