Assistant Resident Engineer (Structures And Bridges)

to join our team in Abu Dhabi!

In this role, you will assist the Resident Engineer in administering the day-to-day supervision and management of bridge and structural works on large-scale infrastructure projects, ensuring that construction is carried out in accordance with the contract, specifications, and approved drawings.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Reporting to the Resident Engineer and assisting in supervising the construction of bridges, structures, and associated works.
  • Acting in place of the Resident Engineer when they are on leave or absent, as required.
  • Coordinating your activities with other engineers and members of the construction supervision team.
  • Assisting the Resident Engineer in reviewing shop drawings, design proposals, method statements, and related correspondence, and preparing draft responses for review.
  • Coordinating with Parsons’ design engineers to resolve technical issues related to structural works.
  • Maintaining your daily diary and ensuring inspectors’ daily reports are completed accurately and on time.
  • Coordinating with the contractor’s engineers on scheduling and allocation of resources.
  • Directing, assisting, and monitoring the performance of inspectors and surveyors, as applicable.
  • Convening and chairing special meetings with contractors, subcontractors, and relevant stakeholders related to your scope of work.
  • Ensuring accuracy and completeness of records, including inspection reports and site correspondence.
  • Ensuring project safety goals are achieved and overseeing the implementation of safety procedures within your scope.
  • Preparing and/or assisting in the preparation of weekly and monthly progress reports.
  • Acting positively and participating in all health and safety issues on site, as required by the Resident Engineer and project safety representatives.
  • Providing on-site direction and assisting the Resident Engineer in issuing site instructions related to structural and associated works.
  • Checking and measuring performed work within your discipline, recording quantities, and assisting the Resident Engineer in reporting progress against the programme.
  • Ensuring correctness and completeness of as-built drawings for structural works.
  • Assisting with the handover of works to relevant authorities, including ensuring required records and clearances are in place.

What Required Skills You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the design, site supervision, and construction management of infrastructure projects, including roads and bridges.
  • Minimum 2 years of proven experience managing supervision activities on large-scale infrastructure projects within Abu Dhabi (mandatory).
  • Ability to review and justify material submissions, analyze laboratory and technical reports, and apply acceptance sampling, testing, and quality measures in line with project specifications.
  • Sound knowledge of contractual relationships and construction contract administration.
  • Fully computer literate, with the ability to use relevant software to access data, maintain records, and generate reports, as well as project-specific engineering and construction tools.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English, with strong technical writing and communication skills.

  • Experience liaising with service/utility authorities and supporting final clearances and handover processes on infrastructure projects.
