Application Support Analyst in Legal & General’s Technology Operations team, supporting business-critical applications in the SCOPE and Maple environments.

What you’ll do
- Support business-critical production applications.
- Investigate incidents using logs, SQL queries, stored procedures, and existing application code.
- Diagnose application, database, integration, and service issues; read and debug Java code.
- Manage incidents, problems, requests, and changes through agreed processes.
- Keep business stakeholders informed about service impact, progress, and expected resolution times.
- Deliver fixes, enhancements, and preventative improvements.
- Help modernize the application estate, adopt newer tools, and connect legacy platforms with newer technology.
What you’ll bring
- Strong SQL skills, including queries and stored procedures, and working knowledge of Java code reading and debugging.
- Production support experience with business-critical applications.
- Knowledge of relational databases; Sybase is an ideal example.
- Understanding of incident, problem, and change management processes.
- Clear communication, a proactive approach, curiosity, and willingness to learn unfamiliar systems and processes.
- Relevant practical experience, a Computer Science degree, or equivalent qualification.
Desirable experience
- Financial services, asset management, OpenShift, JBoss, ServiceNow, or an ITIL-aligned environment would be useful, but applicants do not need every desirable qualification.
