Anesthesia Technician

Role overview

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and check anesthesia machines, ventilators, patient monitors, and related equipment before procedures.
• Assist the anaesthesiologist with equipment and supplies for anesthesia administration.
• Check airway equipment, oxygen delivery, suction, and emergency resuscitation equipment.
• Assist with patient preparation and positioning as directed by the clinical team.
• Ensure consumables and supplies are available; report equipment faults or safety concerns.
• Follow infection prevention, cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization procedures.
• Maintain equipment checklists, maintenance records, and stock documentation.
• Assist with patient transfers between theatre and recovery; support procedures within authorized scope.
• Coordinate with clinical staff and participate in audits, quality improvement, and relevant training.

Qualifications and requirements

• Recognized qualification in Anaesthesia Technology or an equivalent qualification accepted by the regulator.
• Valid DOH licence or eligibility for the appropriate DOH professional licence, as applicable.
• Relevant experience in anesthesia services; hospital, day surgery centre, or operating theatre experience is preferred.
• Practical knowledge of anesthesia equipment, airway equipment, and patient monitoring devices.
• Knowledge of infection control procedures and operating theatre safety standards.
• Ability to work effectively with healthcare professionals and respond to urgent clinical needs within authorized scope.
• Good communication, teamwork, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
• Immediate availability or ability to join at short notice is an advantage.
