Key Responsibilities 🗝️

  • Partner with business leads across the company to turn a stated problem into a clear, defined, reproducible metric.
  • Own the data modelling and transformation layer, build and maintain the BI/reporting layer the business relies on as its single source of truth.
  • Write SQL and build data models hands-on, working closely with Tech's data engineering team on the underlying warehouse.
  • Keep data quality high, catch and prevent the kind of data issues that undermine trust in reporting.
  • Define the marker points (the thresholds for what counts as a real trend or anomaly on core metrics) and proactively flag business leads when something crosses them, so decisions come from historical-trend evidence, not gut feel.
  • Grow into managing a small team as the function scales.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise 🚀

  • Strong SQL and data modelling experience , ideally in a BI/data warehouse context
  • Comfortable owning a BI tool (we use Sigma) as the organisation's single source of truth
  • Track record turning ambiguous business questions into clean, reproducible data answers
  • Applied statistics: confident telling signal from noise. That means trend and anomaly detection, cohort and retention analysis, and regression to understand what's really driving a metric (for example, which account signals predict churn, or what moves turnaround times). Experience with forecasting or survival analysis is a plus. You know when a simple method is the right answer, and when the data can't support a stronger claim.
  • People management potential : Ready and excited to grow their own small team of analysts over the next year
  • Platform-minded : builds durable, reusable models rather than one-off pulls for whoever asks loudest
  • Comfortable being a shared resource : prioritises competing asks from multiple stakeholders fairly, without a single dedicated backlog
  • Growth-oriented : genuinely motivated by the path toward leading a data function, not just executing tickets
