Role overview

The role is the technical core of Core Ops, building a clean, reliable data foundation for the business.

Reports to the Head of Operations and works with commercial and customer operations leads and the data engineering team.

Starts as an individual contributor, with a path to people management as the data team grows.

Responsibilities

  • Translate business problems into clear, defined, reproducible metrics.
  • Own data modelling and transformation and maintain the BI and reporting layer as the single source of truth.
  • Write SQL and build data models with the data engineering team on the warehouse.
  • Maintain data quality and prevent issues that erode confidence in reporting.
  • Set thresholds for trends and anomalies in core metrics and proactively alert business leads.
  • Grow into managing a small analyst team as the function scales.

Skills and experience

  • Strong SQL and data modelling experience, ideally in a BI or data warehouse context.
  • Comfortable owning a BI tool; Zinc uses Sigma as its single source of truth.
  • Track record turning ambiguous business questions into clean, reproducible data answers.
  • Applied statistics capability, including trend and anomaly detection, cohort and retention analysis, and regression.
  • Forecasting or survival analysis experience is a plus.
  • Builds reusable models, prioritises competing stakeholder requests fairly, and is motivated to grow into leading a data function.
